We spend a day in the stunning city of Lisbon and explore its array of famous sights on a guided tour. Set on seven hills on the banks of the River Tagus, Lisbon has been the capital of Portugal since the 13th century and is renowned for its majestic architecture, yellow trams, Moorish features and the delicious local custard tarts known as ‘Pastel de Nata’. This elegant, energetic city is a fascinating and inspiring place with an alluring combination of ancient and contemporary sections combining wide boulevards and great shopping areas with culture and sightseeing in the picturesque Old Town, nestled on the city’s terraced hillside.

Day Five

We have another guided excursion today which commences with a visit to picturesque Óbidos, a peaceful, medieval town with a jumble of cobblestone alleyways, whitewashed churches and colourful houses all embraced within the protective walls of a 12th century castle. In the afternoon we continue to the enchanting town of Sintra, nestled atop the pine clad Sintra Mountains with a variety of fascinating historic buildings and enthralling attractions. Designated an UNESCO World Heritage site, the whole town is an architectural jewel with extravagant palaces, opulent mansions and the ruins of an ancient castle.
