ITINERARY

Day One: We travel north through the Scottish Border Region and on via the Cairngorms National Park to our hotel in Grantown-on-Spey.

Day Two: We discover legendary Loch Ness, one of the country’s most famous lochs thanks to its elusive monster, Nessie. We head to Clansman Harbour for a relaxing cruise to absorb the breath-taking vista of the loch in all its natural wonder. We then drive on to the popular tourist town of Inverness, the bustling capital of the Highland region. The River Ness flows majestically through the centre of this attractive town which is overlooked by its 19th century castle.

Day Three: This morning we head towards Aviemore and board the Strathspey Railway for a steam train ride through spectacular Speyside scenery. Admire the everchanging landscape as we journey alongside heather-clad moors, the ancient Caledonian forest and the River Spey, before we reach Broomhill. We will then board the coach and travel to the Speyside Cooperage, the only family-owned working cooperage in the UK which continues to produce whisky casks.

Day Four: We take a drive through the Cairngorms National Park to the Reindeer Centre. Home to Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer the centre provides a fantastic opportunity to get up close and learn all about these fascinating animals. From here we travel to the foot of Cairngorm Mountain for an unforgettable journey on the funicular railway to the top station, located at 1097m above sea level with panoramic views. Here you will also find a restaurant, viewing terrace, exhibition, plus the highest post box in the British Isles.

Day Five: We check out and commence our homeward journey.
