ITINERARY

Day One: We travel across Anglesey to Holyhead for our ferry crossing to Ireland, then continue on via the Wicklow Mountains to Kilkenny and check in to the Hotel Kilkenny where we stay for four nights.

Day Two: This morning we are joined by a guide for a walking tour of the city whose medieval heritage is very evident in its maze-like narrow alleyways and lanes, and its treasure trove of historic buildings and landmarks. Afternoon at leisure to explore, maybe visit the St Canice's Cathedral with its massive stained glass window or the magnificent castle which dominates the city, built back in the 13th century for the 4th Earl of Pembroke.

Day Three: Today we head to the Viking City of Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city which tells its fascinating story at the Waterford Museum of Treasures, three magnificent interactive high-tech museums chronicling over a thousand years of history. Tours are also available (additional cost) in the famous House of Waterford Crystal where you can see exquisite pieces of crystal being created.

Day Four: We drive north today into County Kildare, the agricultural heartland of Ireland and centre of its valuable horse racing industry. Kildare Town is home to the Irish National Stud where we will take a fascinating tour and have an opportunity to wander through the lovely Japanese Garden, regarded as one of the best in Europe.
