Oban is without doubt one of Scotland's most popular holiday resorts and known as the 'Gateway to the Isles'. Situated on a sheltered, horseshoe bay in the Western Highlands, Oban is a bustling harbour town with Victorian villas and hotels lining the esplanade and harbour.

Known as the ‘Gateway to the Islands’ Oban is without doubt one of Scotland’s most popular holiday resorts situated in a lovely sheltered bay in the Western Highlands with Victorian villas and hotels lining the esplanade and harbour. The views of the mountains, lochs and islands have captivated artists, authors and poets for centuries and in the town itself there are many attractions including a distillery, Oban Glass, the Cathedral of St. Columba and McCaig's Tower and Museum. During this tour we will also take in some of Scotland’s most glorious scenery, visit the majestic Inveraray Castle & Gardens and also discover beautiful Tobermory of the Isle of Mull.




The historic Royal Hotel was originally built in 1895 and stands in the centre of the town close to the harbour and ferry terminal. All bedrooms feature traditional décor and are equipped with television, radio, telephone, iron/ironing board, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel also features a restaurant and a lounge bar. Lift to all floors.

Day One

Early morning departure for our journey north to Scotland, arriving at the Royal hotel in Oban late afternoon.


Day Two

Today we visit Inveraray, one of Scotland's most photographed towns with its distinctive white-washed Georgian architecture and home to one of Scotland's top visitor attractions, the 19th century Inveraray Jail, a living museum where you can experience what it was like to be incarcerated behind its bars. This afternoon discover one of Scotland's finest stately homes, Inveraray Castle & Gardens. This majestic turreted castle is beautifully positioned shores of Loch Fyne and is home to the Dukes of Argyll.

Day Three

This morning we travel along the shores of stunning Loch Linnhe to visit Fort William, the largest town in the Highlands that is encircled by stunning mountain scenery and sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis. After some free time to explore we trace our steps back to the excellent Glencoe visitor centre where you can learn all about Glencoe's remarkable history. We then continue our journey back to Oban by taking the scenic route and traveling through spectacular Glencoe, enjoying the sweeping turns and panoramic views as we drive this famous road in the Scottish Highlands.

Day Four

Today we travel by ferry to the Isle of Mull. Upon arrival we drive along the coast offering great views of the Sound of Mull to the island's principal town, Tobermory. This delightful fishing port is best known for its multi-coloured waterfront buildings that have attracted film-makers and tourists alike for years. We will have some time to explore the local shops, maybe visit the Tobermory Distillery or enjoy delicious meal featuring local produce in the selection of restaurants and cafes. We travel back to Craignure during the afternoon for our return ferry crossing to Oban.

This morning after breakfast we check out of the Royal hotel begin our jouney home.
