The stunning scenery in the northern highlands of Scotland is world renowned, an area of towering mountains, lush green valleys and mystical lochs & glens. On this springtime holiday we will explore this truly stunning part of Scotland from our base in the picturesque Highland village of Newtonmore, nestling in the upper reaches of the Spey valley within the Cairngorms National Park.

 

HIGHLANDER HOTEL (3 STAR)

Facilities at the Highlander include a restaurant, bar and lounge area with Wi-Fi access. All bedrooms feature satellite TV, telephone, tea/coffee tray and hairdryer. No lift but bedrooms are on the ground or first floor.

 

EXCURSIONS INCLUDED

  • We drive through the Cairngorms National Park to the foot of CairnGorm Mountain for a ride on the Funicular Railway, the highest in the UK. We climb up to the Top Station located 150 metres below the summit from where there are spectacular panoramic views. We then continue on to visit Inverness, the capital of the Highlands set on the banks of the River Ness and overlooked by its 19th century castle.

     

  • A lovely scenic drive via Loch Laggan and Glen Spean to the resort of Fort William, set on the shores of Loch Linnhe. Here we have an included cruise on the loch where you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of Lochaber and experience some of Scotland's best wildlife.

 

  • A short drive into the Spey Valley with a visit to Grantown-on-Spey, a traditional Highland town with historic buildings, a nice tree lined square and striking Georgian and Victorian architecture.
