Enjoy a wonderful summertime break with included visits to the magnificent cities of York and Chester, plus a fantastic day out at England’s premier agricultural event, the Great Yorkshire Show. Showcasing the very best of British farming and agriculture, the show features a wealth of attractions including top international show jumping, sheep shearing

competitions, world class cattle parades, falconry displays plus the fast and furious Shetland Pony Grand National. There are also plenty of shopping opportunities including the popular Food Hall and Cooking Theatre plus hundreds of stands selling everything from designer clothes to tractors!

 

MARRIOTT HOLLINS HALL (4 STAR)

Originally built in 1878 this excellent hotel features two restaurants and the Hollins Bar, a Leisure Club with gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, solarium and beauty suite, plus an 18-hole Championship Golf Course. All bedrooms feature satellite TV, internet access, hair dryer, trouser press, iron & board, mini bar and hospitality tray and room safe. Lift also available.

 

ITINERARY

Day One: We make our way to the elegant town of Harrogate, famous for its historic buildings, stunning scenery and natural springs. Enjoy some time at leisure to explore the numerous attractions Harrogate has to offer before continuing to our hotel.

 

Day Two: We discover the historic city of York with its superb array of attractions. Perhaps take a sightseeing open top bus tour, walk the famous city walls, explore the quaint ’Shambles’ and marvel at the gothic splendour of the Minster. There are some fantastic museums including the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum and the excellent Castle Museum to name but a few. You will also find an excellent mix of designer stores, high street shops and independent boutiques as well as traditional tea shops and cafés.

 

Day Three: Today we spend the day at The Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate, one of the UK’s biggest country shows where you’ll be spoilt for choice with the fantastic range of things to see and do! The 'Main Ring' is the centre attraction with everything from international show jumping to the world-class cattle parade. You can also visit the popular food hall, cookery theatre, fashion shows and a host of country pursuit displays including falconry.

 

Day Four: We check out of the hotel and travel to the Roman city of Chester where we’ll have some free time to relax, explore and enjoy lunch. We depart mid-afternoon and continue our homeward journey.
