Our base for exploring the delightful region of Somerset is the historic city of Wells, England's smallest city with quaint cobbled streets and the magnificent Cathedral. As well as discovering the charms of Wells, we will explore the fantastic city of Bath with its plethora of attractions including the remarkably preserved Roman Baths.
With its pastoral landscape of hedgerows, vast fields and rolling hills, sleepy Somerset is the very picture of the rural English countryside. Our base for exploring this delightful region is the historic city of Wells, Englands smallest city with quaint cobbled streets, medieval architecture and the magnificent cathedral. As well as discovering the charms of Wells, we will explore the fantastic city of Bath with its plethora of attractions including the remarkably preserved Roman Baths.
The award-winning Swan Hotel is located in a beautiful setting directly opposite Wells Cathedral. Amenities include a health suite with sauna and gym, a bar and lounge, a beautiful wood panelled restaurant, and the Swan Terrace with views over Cathedral Green. Bedrooms feature TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is no lift but a limited number of ground floor rooms are available.
We make our way to the edge of the Mendip Hills and Britains largest gorge at Cheddar. Here you may like to visit the Museum of prehistory and there will be an opportunity to take an open top bus tour through the dramatic landscape of the gorge and see spectacular views of the Mendips. You can then enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants in Cheddar and maybe sample some real Cheddar cheese.
