Day One
Early departure for our journey south to Dover for a ferry crossing to Calais. We then continue on to our overnight hotel at Lille.
Day Two
We continue our journey today into Germany where we travel through the Rhine Valley to Bacharach where we will enjoy a short cruise on the Rhine to Bingen. We then journey to Offenbach for our second overnight stay.
BDay Three
After breakfast we continue our journey through Germany to board the MS Arena in Passau, known as the 'three rivers city' due to its unique location where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet. After settling in to your cabin enjoy a welcome reception including glass of sparkling wine before dinner this evening as we set sail and cruise towards Melk.
B, DDay Four
This morning we arrive in the small town of Melk, which lies in the beautiful Wachau valley. Here we have included a visit the Benedictine Abbey, one of the most famous monastic houses in Austria and has been occupied by monks for over 900 years. You can relax onboard for the remainder of the day as we cruise to Vienna for an overnight stop.
B, L, DDay Five
We spend a full day experiencing the delights of Vienna. Grand palaces, baroque castles, magnificent squares and striking monuments are just some of the key features of this beautiful city, which is a world heritage site. This morning enjoy an included city tour followed by lunch onboard. This afternoon we visit Belvedere Palace, a stunning Baroque building made up of two palaces, an orangery and the palace stables. The palace is also home to an incredible collection of art, including the world's largest collection of work by Gustav Klimt. In the early evening we cast off and cruise towards Budapest.
B, L, DDay Six
Today we arrive into Budapest late morning. Enjoy lunch onboard the ship before a tour of this fascinating city. Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with an extensive area recognised as a world heritage site. We can explore both sides of Hungary's capital which is divided by the meandering Danube - traditional Buda and the more cosmopolitan Pest. Most of the famous sites are concentrated around Castle Hill on the Buda side, in downtown Pest and along the riverside walkways. Look out for the Royal Palace, Fishermen's Bastion, the Parliament building, St Stephen's Basilica, Heroes' Square and the Chain Bridge. We return to the ship for dinner before an excursion to experience Budapest by night with a traditional folklore show.
B, L, DDay Seven
This morning enjoy an excursion which takes you through the sweeping plains of Hungary to Lajosmizse. Here we visit a traditional stud farm and enjoy a tour of the grounds in a horse-drawn carriage, before watching a spectacular live Puszta horse show. We return to the ship early afternoon and cruise towards Bratislava. This afternoon why not pull up a chair or lounger on the ship's elevated sun deck. Relax with a drink and soak up the sun whilst taking in the scenery as you cruise along the river.
B, L, DDay Eight
We reach Bratislava this morning where our excursion takes in this historic capital city, which is dominated by its castle and unique suspension bridge. We'll enjoy a walking tour with a local guide and sample 'Makovka' which is a sweet white chocolate with poppy seed filling. Lunch is served onboard and the afternoon is free to explore Bratislava at your leisure before we enjoy dinner onboard and cruise towards Dürnstein.
B, L, DDay Nine
This morning we arrive in the town of Dürnstein, which nestles among Austria's most famous vineyards and is crowned by the ruins of the castle that once imprisoned Richard the Lionheart. It's a beautiful place filled with cobbled streets, pretty courtyards and 16th century houses. After some free time we set sail for the final time and cruise towards Passau.
B, L, DDay Ten
We disembark this morning at Passau and begin our return journey by coach through Germany, stopping at the delightful medieval Bavarian town of Bamburg with some free time to explore and enjoy some lunch. As you wonder around, be sure not to miss the Old Town Hall that is situated on a small island in the middle of the Regnitz river. We continue mid-afternoon to our overnight hotel in Offenbach.
BDay Eleven
Today we continue our journey through the Moselle Valley, stopping at the enchanting town Bernkastel-Kues, on the banks of the Moselle River. Enjoy some free time to have lunch and explore this beautiful fairytale town with its lovely colourful timbered buildings and narrow cobbled streets. This afternoon we return to France and head to Lille for our final overnight stay.
BDay Twelve
We continue to Calais for our return ferry crossing to Dover and on home to North Wales.
