DARK ISLAND HOTEL
The Dark Island Hotel is a welcoming hotel located on the picturesque Isle of Benbecula that offers comfortable accommodation and serves as an excellent base for exploring the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the island. All bedrooms vary in style but are equipped with television, hairdryer and tea / coffee making facilities. The hotel also features a restaurant and bar area. The hotel does not have a lift, however a limited number of ground floor rooms are available.

Day One
We travel north through the Border Region and the beautiful Western Highlands to Fort William where we have an overnight stay at the Alexandra Hotel.
DDay Two
Today, we embark on a breathtaking journey through the magnificent Scottish Highlands, bound for the enchanting Isle of Skye. Our journey takes us past the stunning Loch Cluanie and the iconic Eilean Donan Castle to the Kyle of Lochalsh. From here we drive over the Skye road bridge onto the Isle of Skye itself, where our scenic route unfolds further, leading us past the awe-inspiring Cuillin Hills and through the island's charming capital, Portree to the port of Uig. Here we take a ferry to Lochmaddy on the Isle of Benbecula, where, upon arrival, we continue to the Dark Island Hotel, our home for the next two nights.
BDay Three
This morning, we explore South Uist, a captivating jewel within the Outer Hebrides. Here, pristine waters meet powdery white beaches, painting a picturesque canvas of natural beauty. As we journey, we pass the evocative ruins of Ormacleit Castle, a relic from the 18th century, and make our way to the Isle of Eriskay, connected to the mainland by a charming stone causeway. This idyllic island holds historical significance, for it was the very spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie first stepped onto Scottish soil. Eriskay is also renowned for its population of semi-wild ponies, adding to the island's allure. Our adventure continues as we board a ferry bound for the Isle of Barra, for a brief yet captivating visit. From sweeping beaches and rolling hills to the unique machair and expansive moors, this compact island offers a remarkable diversity of landscapes and experiences. With a touch of luck, you may even witness the extraordinary sight of tourist planes gracefully landing on the island's pristine beaches.
B, DDay Four
Today, our journey carries us across the picturesque landscapes of North Uist, where we'll be treated to the sight of breathtaking sandy beaches, serene freshwater lochs, and undulating moorland hills. Our path leads us to Berneray, where we board a ferry bound for the alluring Isle of Harris. As we disembark in Leverburgh, our first stop is the remarkable St. Clement's Church in Rodel, a historical gem dating back to the 1500s. We then embark on a scenic drive to the Isle of Lewis, a route renowned for its awe-inspiring coastal vistas. Our adventure continues as we explore the delightful Isle of Scalpay, known for its charming waterfront villages. Finally, we reach our ultimate destination, Stornoway, where we check in at the welcoming Caladh Inn, our hotel for the next two nights.
B, DDay Five
This morning we are joined by a knowledgeable local guide who will lead us on a captivating exploration of the island's magnificent landscapes. Lewis, the largest and most inhabited of the Western Isles, retains its pristine and unhurried charm. It stands as a sanctuary for wildlife, boasting some of the most vital seabird colonies in the United Kingdom. Our tour takes us to notable sites, starting with the ancient Iron Age fortification known as Carloway Broch. Next, we journey to the enigmatic Calanais Visitor Centre, where we will be introduced to the Callanish Standing Stones, a remarkably well-preserved megalithic site, widely considered one of Scotland's finest. Our adventure also includes a visit to Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, a fascinating step back in time where we can immerse ourselves in the lifestyle of a typical 19th-century crofting community. With each stop, we uncover the layers of history, culture, and natural beauty that make Lewis a truly exceptional destination.
B, DDay Six
Our morning commences with an early start as we board a ferry for our return journey to the Scottish mainland. Once we arrive in Ullapool, we disembark from the ferry and proceed to the charming town of Aviemore. Here, we pause for lunch and maybe have a look around this popular resort. Our journey then carries us onward to Dunblane, where we will spend our final night in the enchanting landscapes of Scotland.
DDay Seven
This morning, following breakfast, we check out of our hotel and embark on the last stretch of our journey homeward. We retrace our path, traveling through the enchanting Scottish Borders, as we steadily make our way back to North Wales, where our unforgettable adventure draws to a close.
