Rhine & Moselle Winter Wonderland

Day One

Early departure for our journey south to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais. On arrival in Calais we continue onto the city of Lille and the Mercure Lille Centre Grand Place Hotel where we stay for one night.

Once settled into our accommodation, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the captivating ambiance of Lille. Wander through its charming streets, adorned with historical architecture and lively markets, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere that permeates the city.

As evening falls, treat yourself to a culinary delight at one of Lille's many esteemed restaurants and bistros.

Day Two

After enjoying a hearty breakfast at our hotel in Lille, we bid farewell to this charming city and embark on our journey to Frankfurt. Upon reaching our destination, we are warmly welcomed aboard the luxurious MS Viva Tiara river cruise, marking the beginning of our four-night voyage along the picturesque Rhine & Moselle Rivers.

After settling into our comfortable cabins and exploring our new surroundings, we set sail this evening towards Rüdesheim while being treated to a sumptuous dinner.

Day Three

Indulge in a leisurely morning in Rüdesheim, a quaint town nestled along the picturesque banks of the Rhine. Take advantage of some free time to explore its charming Christmas Market and wander through its enchanting narrow streets, filled with festive cheer and delightful surprises.

Later in the afternoon, we bid farewell to Rüdesheim and set our course towards the historic city of Koblenz. Positioned at the confluence of the mighty Rhine and Moselle rivers, Koblenz awaits with its rich history and captivating beauty. Upon our arrival in the evening, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the allure of one of Germany's oldest and most beautiful cities. Explore its cobbled streets, admire its historic landmarks, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere that permeates its charming squares and waterfront promenades.

Day Four

Arriving in Cochem early in the morning, you'll find yourself captivated by the charm of this quaint and picturesque historic town. With ample time at leisure, immerse yourself in its rich history and captivating beauty as you wander through its cobbled streets and discover hidden gems around every corner. Dominating the landscape is the ancient Reichsburg Castle, perched dramatically on a hillside, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the town and the meandering Moselle River below.

As the afternoon approaches, we bid farewell to Cochem and make our way back to the comfort of our cruise ship. Take advantage of this time to unwind and fully relax onboard, with an array of amenities at your disposal. Indulge in some well-deserved pampering at the Wellness area, where you can rejuvenate your body and mind in the steam bath and sauna, or simply relax in in the onboard lounge with a drink and soak in the tranquil surroundings as we sail overnight towards the vibrant city of Mainz.

Day Five

This morning, we dock in Mainz, an ancient city nestled on the western bank of the Rhine, its origins dating back over 2000 years to the Roman era. Here, you'll have the chance to leisurely explore this historic gem, marvelling at the beautifully restored historic houses that line its charming streets. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the impressive Mainz Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture situated in the bustling Marktplatz. Renowned for its striking facade, opulent interior, and rich history, the cathedral promises to leave a lasting impression.

Later in the afternoon, we bid farewell to Mainz and embark on our return journey back to Frankfurt. As we glide along the majestic Rhine, take advantage of the additional free time onboard to indulge in the ship's amenities and soak up the scenic beauty that surrounds us. Let the tranquil rhythm of the river soothe your senses as we journey back towards our starting point, reminiscing on the unforgettable experiences and memories created along the way.

Day Six

This morning marks the conclusion of our winter river cruise adventure as we disembark in Frankfurt and bid farewell to the MS VIVA Tiara. From here, we return by coach to the vibrant city of Lille, where we will spend the night. This evening, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Lille Christmas market, where the air is filled with festive cheer and the streets come alive with twinkling lights and the enticing aromas of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts. Lose yourself in the enchanting atmosphere, browsing the stalls for unique gifts and sampling seasonal treats, a fitting finale to your festive escapade.

Day Seven

Today we check out of our hotel in Lille and make our way to Calais for the return ferry journey to Dover, and finally, our journey home to North Wales.
