Day One
Our journey begins as we make our way to Welshpool, where we'll be captivated by Powis Castle. Originally constructed around 1200, this castle is a testament to centuries of history. Step inside to discover opulent interiors adorned with exquisite works of art. The castle's gardens, a 300-year-old masterpiece, offer a visual feast with their sophisticated flower borders and extraordinary topiary. Following our visit, we continue to the delightful town of Llandrindod Wells.
DDay Two
Today we travel to Rhayader for a visit to the Elan Valley Visitor Centre where we meet a guide who will accompany us for a tour of the Elan Valley Reservoirs. Elan is a beautiful and unspoilt area made even more compelling by the dams and reservoirs which together create a wonderful landscape. Enjoy the stunning views and marvel at the engineering enterprise of the Victorians before we return to Llandrindod where the remainder of the afternoon will be at leisure.
B, DDay Three
This morning we travel to Abergavenny, a quaint market town surrounded by the Brecon Beacons. Today happens to be market day, a fantastic opportunity to experience the local hustle and bustle. After some time to explore and maybe have some lunch, we leave Abergavenny early afternoon and continue to Hay-on-Wye. Renowned as the "Town of Books," you'll find a treasure trove of literary gems and charming streets and quaint shops waiting to be explored.
B, DDay Four
Today we make our way to the seaside resort of Aberystwyth. Enjoy free time to look around, take a walk along the promenade or maybe ride up the Victorian Cliff Railway to the top of Constitution Hill where you can enjoy fantastic views over Cardigan Bay. This afternoon we take our seats on the Vale of Rheidol steam railway for a nostalgic 12 mile journey climbing 700ft through some truly spectacular scenery to Devil's Bridge, home to the famous waterfalls.
B, DDay Five
After breakfast we bid farewell to the Metropole Hotel and head to Froncysyllte, where we embark on a canal boat for a leisurely two-hour cruise along the picturesque Llangollen Canal, which includes a breathtaking traverse of the famous aqueduct. At the end of our cruise, enjoy some free time in Llangollen for lunch. In the mid-afternoon, we continue our journey homeward, bringing an end to this unforgettable exploration of Mid Wales.
