Stratford & The Cotswolds

Stratford & The Cotswolds

Delightful Stratford-upon-Avon, a famous market town with more than 800 years of history, set in the beautiful rural Warwickshire countryside on the banks of the River Avon. Known the world over as the birthplace of the most celebrated playwright, William Shakespeare, Stratford-Upon-Avon is unsurprisingly one of Britain's most visited towns. Thanks to careful preservation the town still boasts numerous picturesque timbered buildings and streets that haven't changed much since Shakespeare's day. We will also enjoy a scenic drive through the Cotswolds to the pretty villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh and Broadway.

Day One

We travel south to the lovely historic town of Stratford upon Avon and the centrally located Hilton Doubletree Stratford Hotel where we stay for the next two nights. The afternoon is then free to commence exploring this lovely old town with its timber framed buildings, steeped in culture and history and offering a wealth of things to see and do.

Day Two

We spend a day in the picturesque Cotswolds, a delightful landscape of rolling hills and lovely honey-stoned villages. This morning, we begin with a visit to the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh, located in the heart of the Cotswolds. Embrace its characterful charm and beautiful honey coloured stone buildings as you wander down the elegant High Street. We then continue through the Cotswolds and onto the delightful market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest of the Cotswolds' towns and historically an important trading centre where the quaint Market Square is flanked by town houses, independent shops, antique centres and cosy cafés. There will be time for some lunch and to explore Stow-on-the-Wold before we continue our journey to the pretty village of Broadway, often referred to as the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds' with its ancient Cotswold stone cottages and numerous shops and tearooms.
