The highlight of the festive break is an unforgettable afternoon at the world-famous Thursford Christmas Spectacular. From the moment of arrival, we will be immersed in a truly magical festive setting, with the entire venue transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland. Renowned as the largest Christmas show in the UK, this spectacular production combines breathtaking choreography, outstanding live music, elaborate costumes, comedy and variety acts, all performed by a full professional cast and orchestra in a unique theatre setting.
Finally, the festive atmosphere continues at the Burghley Christmas Fair, where beautifully decorated chalets offer a wonderful selection of gifts, crafts and seasonal treats.
Set amidst 150 acres of landscaped grounds on the outskirts of Norwich this delightful Elizabethan-style mansion was originally built in 1859 and has been lovingly restored to its former glory. The public areas include an elegantly decorated traditional bar and lounge, the La Fontaine Restaurant and a Brasserie grill. All the en-suite bedrooms feature satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Day One
Our outward journey takes us via the motorway network to Cambridge, one of the UK's most beautiful and historic cities, set on the picturesque banks of the River Cam. Arriving in the early afternoon, there will be free time to explore its stunning architecture, charming streets and vibrant atmosphere at your own pace. During our visit, the Cambridge Christmas Market will be in full swing on Parker's Piece in the heart of the city. This traditional chalet-style market offers a wonderful selection of handcrafted gifts, festive treats, local crafts and delicious street food. You can also enjoy a variety of seasonal attractions, including an open-air ice rink, Christmas Tree Maze, Big Wheel and the cosy Alpine Lodge and Après Terrace. In the late afternoon, we depart Cambridge and travel to the outskirts of Norwich, where we stay at the elegant Dunston Hall Hotel.
DDay Two
This morning, we travel through the picturesque Norfolk Broads to Wroxham, where we board a Broads Tours boat for a relaxing festive cruise. Sit back and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee accompanied by a traditional mince pie as you take in the tranquil beauty of this unique landscape. Aboard this purpose-built vessel, we glide along the River Bure on a scenic round-trip cruise from Wroxham. With informative onboard commentary enhancing the experience, we will pass charming thatched cottages, historic windmills and sweeping reed beds, all of which contribute to the distinctive character of the Norfolk Broads.
Following our cruise, we continue to Thursford for an afternoon performance of the world-famous Thursford Christmas Spectacular. From the moment you arrive, you will be immersed in a magical festive atmosphere. This spectacular production features an unforgettable blend of dazzling choreography, outstanding live music, spectacular costumes, comedy and variety acts. Bursting with seasonal cheer, the show combines much-loved Christmas classics with popular songs from across the decades, creating a truly captivating celebration of the festive season.
Day Three
Following a leisurely breakfast, we check out of our hotel and board the coach for our journey to the magnificent Burghley House, one of England's finest Elizabethan stately homes, renowned for its grand architecture, impressive interiors and beautiful parkland setting. Although the house itself will not be open during our visit, the stunning courtyards and grounds will be transformed for the annual Burghley Christmas Fair. Festively decorated chalets, pagodas and marquees, adorned with sparkling lights and seasonal decorations, create a magical Christmas atmosphere. Enjoy time at leisure to browse the wide variety of stalls showcasing artisan products and unique gifts. Whether you are searching for the perfect Christmas present, handmade decorations, stylish clothing, gourmet treats or beautiful homewares, you will find plenty of inspiration among the carefully selected exhibitors. In mid-afternoon, we depart Burghley House and begin our journey back to North Wales, bringing home wonderful memories of a festive and enjoyable holiday.
