Cambridge, Ely & The Imperial War Museum

The city of Cambridge is one of the most attractive cities in Britain, situated on the picturesque River Cam. No visit would be complete without seeing the famous collages, world-class museums and galleries and the famous punting tours.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Cambridge Belfry is situated on the outskirts of Cambridge, only a short drive into the city centre. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and feature television, telephone, Wi-Fi, iron / ironing board, hairdryer, safe, tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel also features a restaurant, bar and lounge area plus a leisure club with indoor swimming pool, spa and fitness room. Lift to all floors.

Day One

We travel east to the city of Ely. Rich in history, Ely is dominated by one of the largest and most beautiful cathedrals in England and features a splendid array of historic buildings and a pleasant waterside area where you can enjoy a refreshing riverside walk. We depart Ely late afternoon continue to our hotel on the outskirts of Cambridge.


Day Two

Today we visit Cambridge where it’s renowned University and colleges dominate the city centre, and there is an abundance of magnificent historical architecture with the crowning glory being the famous King’s College Chapel. There are a number of museums to explore including the the Scott Polar Museum and the Museum of Zoology, and for shopping there is an abundance of independent shops and high street brands.

Day Three

Today we visit the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Britain’s best preserved WWII airfield. Its story reflects the landmark achievements made in aviation history and it incorporates a series of museums and exhibitions, including the 1940's Operations Room and the AirSpace Museum where you can get up-close to some of the most famous aircraft in the world including the Lancaster, Spitfire, Vulcan and Concorde. The American Air Museum features the largest collection of US historic military aircraft in Europe and there is also one of the finest collections of tanks and military vehicles.

We check out this morning and commence our homeward journey.
