We discover the enchanting Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with picturesque villages and rolling hills, plus a visit to Chavenage House otherwise known as Trenwith in the BBCs acclaimed drama, Poldark. We will also visit Gloucester, Britains most inland port boasting over 2000 years of history. We visit the Cathedral, the historic docks and the Waterways Museum and take a trip on the Gloucester & Sharpness canal.
A modern four star hotel located on the outskirts of Gloucester. Amenities include a restaurant and wine bar, plus leisure facilities with an indoor swimming pool, sauna & steam room. Bedrooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, TV, iron & board, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does not have a lift but ground floor rooms are available.
Day One: We travel south to the charming Cotswolds for a visit to Tewkesbury, a beautiful medieval market town with characterful black and white halftimbered buildings and a lovely riverside setting. From here we will continue to the Hallmark Hotel in Gloucester.
Day Two: This morning we step into the world of Ross Poldark with a visit to Chavenage House at Tetbury, otherwise known as Trenwith in the hugely popular TV drama. Here we will enjoy a guided tour of this wonderful Elizabethan house by a member of the family with history, film set insider info and ghosts likely to be included in the stories ensuring a unique and interesting visit.
Day Three: We head to the city of Gloucester where our first stop will be the Cathedral, one of the finest medieval buildings in the country, well known for being used in the Harry Potter films. Following this we visit the Victorian docks and the Gloucester Waterways Museum then join a boat trip along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. (There is no entrance fee payable to the Cathedral however a donation of £5 per person is requested but is not compulsory).
Day Four: Today we visit delightful Bourton-on-the-Water, regularly voted as one of the prettiest villages in England and also known as the Venice of the Cotswolds with its bridges crossing the River Windrush. We then continue on to the delightful market town of Stow on the Wold.
Day Five: We check-out this morning and head to the historic village of Broadway, renowned for its interesting antique shops and picturesque honey coloured Cotswold stone cottages. We then continue through the Vale of Evesham and on home to North Wales.
Four nights accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Admission to Chavenage House with a guided tour and the Waterways Museum.
Boat trip on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal
