Regency Sidmouth

Regency Sidmouth

With its nice mild climate Sidmouth is a town for all seasons where you can enjoy gentle walks along the seafront and into the parks and gardens with their stunning views.

Nestled on the Jurassic Coast, and surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies the unspoilt coastal town of Sidmouth. The resort was very fashionable in the 1800s and was visited by Queen Victoria in her youth as well as the Grand Duchess of Russia in 1831. Today, charming and peaceful Sidmouth is renowned for its ‘olde-worlde’ charm, elegant regency style, historic listed buildings and beautiful gardens.

An elegant Grade II listed Regency Hotel with an unrivalled position on Sidmouth’s Esplanade. Facilities include a choice of three cosy lounges plus a restaurant and bar, spa facilities and free Wi-Fi. Bedrooms feature TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities & telephone. Lift available but some steps within the hotel.

  • This morning we travel through picturesque Budleigh Salterton to visit the popular resort of Exmouth, located on the mouth of the River Exe and renowned for its two miles of golden sands. On then to the city of Exeter, home to the magnificent St Peter’s Cathedral with its two massive Norman Towers that dominate the skyline. Other attractions include the Historic Quayside and Visitor Centre plus the medieval underground passages that date back to the 14th century.

  • We travel via Seaton with its long pebble beach and famous electric tramway to visit the historic seaside resort of Lyme Regis. Known as the Pearl of Dorset, Lyme Regis has a narrow tangle of streets and shops that lead down to the famous 13th century Cobb and harbour, a favourite of the writer Jane Austen. On then to Bridport, a filming location some years ago for the TV series Harbour Lights, then to West Bay, a more recently used location for filming the hugely successful series ‘Broadchurch’.

  • Four nights accommodation with dinner and breakfast.

  • Excursions as detailed above

  • Return travel by luxury air conditioned coach
