The classic seaside resort of Weymouth boasts an impressive long arc of golden sands and a wonderful sweep of Georgian sea-front houses. Steeped in history the 17th Century Waterfront is home to some of Dorset’s finest pubs, restaurants and architecture. In the middle of town you will find radipole lake and a great place to sit and relax. Other attractions include the Sea Life Centre, Nothe Fort, the award winning Greenhill Gardens plus the Brewers Quay, a redeveloped Victorian brewery with family attractions and speciality craft and antique shops.

 

CROWN HOTEL

The Crown Hotel is located in an extremely favourable position at the top of Weymouth’s town centre, next to the Town Bridge overlooking the historic fishing harbour, and just a few minutes' walk from Weymouth’s beautiful sandy beach and the Brewer’s Quay. Hotel facilities include a residents’ lounge, guests Wi-Fi zone, The Vaults Bar and Restaurant plus a residents' bar where there is nightly entertainment during the main season. All bedrooms feature TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee tray. Lift to all floors.

 

EXCURSIONS INCLUDED

  • We travel to Dorchester to explore the town and its popular Wednesday market. Dorchester is associated with the famous writer and poet Thomas Hardy who lived there and featured the area in many of his novels. After lunch we continue to Shaftesbury, one of the oldest and highest towns in England with superb views of the surrounding countryside, a collection of fine historical buildings and its delightful cobbled ‘Gold Hill’, made famous years ago by a bread advertisement.

 

  • Enjoy a drive along the coast road passing the unique Abbotsbury Swannery, then on to West Bay known as the Golden gateway to the Jurassic Coast, situated at the western end of magnificent Chesil Beach; a must see for fans of the ITV series Broadchurch which was filmed at West Bay. See the famous cliffs and other sites that you may recognise from the hit TV Series. We then continue to the resort of Sidmouth, known as the ‘Jewel of the Jurassic Coast’ this lovely unspoilt resort with its fine Regency architecture, elegant promenade and red sandstone cliffs overlooks the waters of Lyme Bay.
