Day One
We travel south via the motorways to Dorset and to the resort of Weymouth.
DDay Two
A day at leisure to relax and explore the resort.
B, DDay Three
This morning we visit Poundbury, with its picturesque cottages, beautiful town squares and friendly local shops. You could be forgiven for thinking that Poundbury has grown up over a number of centuries, but this new urban development was the brainchild of the Prince of Wales, and work actually only began in 1993 on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. After some time to explore this unique town and enjoy some lunch in one of the many restaurants we continue to Bridport, a lively and vibrant town with an eclectic mix of independent shops and cafes that give the town a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. We also visit nearby West Bay, where the beach and harbour were the backdrop for the smash-hit TV series Broadchurch. Later this afternoon we travel along the scenic Dorset Jurassic coast road to the Isle of Portland where you can see some fantastic views across Chesil Beach, plus the stone quarries, Pulpit rock the famous Portland Bill lighthouse..
B, DDay Four
Today we take a drive to the Isle of Purbeck where we visit the quaint thatched village of Corfe Castle, with its two main streets of buildings constructed with local grey Purbeck limestone, overlooked by the dramatic Castle ruins that stands on a natural hill guarding the principal route through the Purbeck Hills. We continue to the resort of Swanage, proper old-fashioned, traditional Victorian seaside town set at the heart of Purbeck described as the gem of the Dorset coast. After some time to explore, take in the views, stroll along the restored pier or simply relax on the 'blue flag' quality beach we return to Weymouth where the remainder of the afternoon will be at leisure.
B, DDay Five
We check out this morning and commence our journey home to North Wales.
