ITINERARY

Day One: Early departure to Dover for our Channel ferry crossing to Calais. From here we continue to Lille for an overnight stay.

Day Two: We depart Lille after breakfast and continue our journey south into Germany and the Maritim hotel in Ulm where we stay for the next five nights.

Day Three: Today we travel along the Romantic Road to the captivatingly beautiful town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, renowned as Germany’s best preserved medieval walled town. Picturesquely positioned amidst unspoiled countryside with a web of cobbled lanes, intriguing shops, colourful half-timbered houses and numerous historic fortifications, this enchanting town is a true delight to explore.

Day Four: Full day excursion to Munich where we are joined by a local guide for an included tour, then enjoy some free time to explore the city’s wealth of attractions at your own pace and maybe sample the beer! You may like to visit some of the world class museums and galleries, feast on some Bavarian specialities at the food market, or enjoy a leisurely walk through the sprawling English Garden – one of Europe's biggest city parks. Marienplatz is the lively main square in Munich where you will find the fantastical Town Hall Glockenspiel, and for some retail therapy the city boasts a diverse range of shopping opportunities.

Day Five: A day at leisure to relax and discover the city of Ulm. Wander through the pretty Old Town with its half-timbered houses and charming alleys, or maybe explore the lovingly restored Fishermen's Quarter with many galleries and small shops to browse. The mighty Ulm Minster standing at 161 metres is well worth a visit, and for nature enthusiasts there is the University Botanical Gardens nearby. Perhaps end the day with a stroll along the Danube then unwind in one of the many cafés and Bistros

Day Six: This morning we travel into the scenic Swabian Alb region for a visit to Schloss Hohenzollern, an enchanting fairy-tale like castle prominently situated atop a tree-clad hill. Regarded as one of Germany’s most remarkable castles, it was the ancestral home of the Hohenzollern dynasty, ruling over Prussia from the Middle Ages up until the end of the First World War. Inside you'll see the Prussian royal crown and beautiful period rooms, all opulent from floor to ceiling. We return to Ulm via Blaubeuren, a lovely little town with half-timbered houses and mystical blue waters.

Day Seven: We bid farewell to Ulm this morning and travel back into France for another overnight stay in Lille.

Day Eight: After breakfast we continue north to Calais for our return ferry crossing to Dover then along the motorways home to North Wales.
