Day One
Our journey leads us north to the charming city of Durham, arriving during the afternoon. After checking in to our hotel you'll have some time to immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of Durham. Stroll through the historic streets, perhaps visit the iconic Durham Cathedral, explore the city's vibrant shops or simply take in the picturesque views along the River Wear.
Day Two
This morning, we make the short journey to Beamish, an award winning open-air living museum where you can step back in time and experience history from across the Northeast from the 1820s to the 1950s. This remarkable immersive experience lets you wander through meticulously recreated historic buildings and streets, where costumed individuals bring the past to life and give you a glimpse into the bygone days of North East England.
BDay Three
We journey along the Northumberland coast and cross the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Rising from the sheer rock face at the tip of the island is Lindisfarne Castle, built in 1550 to defend the harbour against attack from Scots and Norsemen. The island is a haven of peace and tranquillity and a great location for potentially spotting some native wildlife including seals and birds. We leave Lindisfarne and make our way towards delightful Alnwick, home to one of Britain's most iconic castles known worldwide not only by its rich history, but also due to its presence in many films and TV shows including Blackadder and the Harry Potter films. Alnwick itself is a bustling medieval market town with twisting cobbled streets and an eclectic collection of individual shops.
BDay Four
We check out this morning and commence our homeward journey, stopping at Harrogate with some free time to explore and have some lunch. We continue our journey home to North Wales early afternoon.
