Our excursion today takes us to the beautiful city of Bath, where you will have the opportunity to explore the most renowned parts of the ancient city, which are conveniently concentrated in the compact city centre. These include the historic Roman Baths and Pump Room, the architectural splendour of Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge over the Avon. You may also wish to take a boat trip on the river or enjoy an open top bus tour of the city centre to learn all about the history of this fascinating city. There are also a fine selection of shops and a good choice of cafés and restaurants.
BDay Three
After breakfast, we visit Bowood House and Gardens, where centuries of history and beautiful landscapes await. Step inside the historic Bowood House, home to the Lansdowne family since 1754, and explore a selection of its elegant rooms, including the Sculpture Gallery, Orangery, Library, Chapel and exhibition rooms. Each offers a fascinating glimpse into the heritage and story of this remarkable estate. Beyond the house, Bowood's magnificent Grade I listed parkland provides plenty to discover. This afternoon, we continue to the charming village of Lacock, a quintessential English village renowned for its timber-framed cottages and picturesque, winding lanes. Its timeless character has made it a popular filming location for productions including Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice. We will also visit the spectacular Lacock Abbey, one of the few abbeys in England to remain largely intact.
