Discover the quaint market town of Burford, known for its charming high street and classic stone cottages, before venturing to the academic city of Oxford for an afternoon filled with architectural splendour and rich cultural history. We stroll through the antique-lined streets of Tetbury and immerse ourselves in the Roman heritage of Cirencester, a bustling market town known as the capital of the Cotswolds.
The Blunsdon House Hotel is a family run hotel set within 30 acres of beautifully maintained grounds, overlooking the stunning Cotswolds. Facilities include two restaurants and a choice of three bars, plus extensive leisure facilities with indoor pool, spa, sauna, steam rooms, state of the art gymnasium and tennis court. Day One:
We travel to the enchanting Cotswolds for a visit to the charming Roman town of Cirencester. Explore its picturesque streets and enjoy the vibrant Market Place filled with local shops and cafes. Following our visit we continue to the Blunsdon House Hotel where we stay for the next 4 nights.
DDay Two:
Today we visit Burford, often called the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds'. Wander through its picturesque high street, lined with honey-coloured stone cottages, traditional tea rooms and charming independent shops. Discover the history of this medieval market town and perhaps visit the beautiful St. John the Baptist Church, a hidden gem of the Cotswolds. In the afternoon, we head to the historic city of Oxford. Explore the iconic "city of dreaming spires," home to the world-renowned Oxford University. Stroll through its cobbled streets, marvel at stunning architecture, and soak in the vibrant academic atmosphere.
B, DDay Three:
This morning we travel to Broadway, often referred to as 'the jewel of the Cotswolds' and renowned for its characterful antique shops. There will be some free time to explore this picturesque Cotswolds town before we take our seats on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway for a journey through Cotswold countryside to Cheltenham. On arrival in Cheltenham explore the charms of England's most complete Regency town, characterised by intricate ironwork balconies and painted facades that line the historic promenade, squares and terraces.
B, DDay Four
Today we start our day with a private guided tour of Berkeley Castle, a magnificent medieval fortress brimming with centuries of history. Stroll through grand rooms, learn about tales and discover the rich heritage of one of England's oldest inhabited castles, still home to the Berkeley family. After a morning steeped in history, we continue to the charming market town of Tetbury. Explore Tetbury's quaint streets lined with antique shops, unique boutiques and historic buildings-a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration in the heart of the Cotswolds.
B, DDay Five:
Following breakfast we check out of the Blunsdon House Hotel and travel to nearby Ludlow, a thriving medieval market town and an architectural gem with nearly 500 listed buildings. Stroll the streets of this historic town or why not visit the Castle, there's plenty to see and do. We depart Ludlow early afternoon and commence our homeward journey.
