Torquay, a beloved resort since Victorian times, is an ideal gateway to explore South Devon's many attractions. Situated on the English Riviera, this charming town enjoys Mediterranean-like sunshine and boasts lush gardens, a vibrant harbour and picturesque promenades perfect for leisurely strolls. On this tour, we visit the tranquil beauty of Buckfast Abbey, embark on a scenic journey aboard the South Devon Railway, explore the quaint town of Totnes and enjoy a delightful Plymouth harbour cruise.
The Belgrave Sands is located close to the seafront and just a short walk to the town centre and harbour. All bedrooms feature walk in shower, robe and slippers, television, telephone, Wi-Fi, iron / ironing board, mini fridge, hairdryer, safe and tea / coffee making facilities. Day One
We travel south via the motorway network to the West Country, arriving in Torquay in the late afternoon for check in to the Belgrave Sands Hotel.
DDay Two
Enjoy a day at leisure in the charming seaside resort of Torquay. Known as the "English Riviera," Torquay offers golden sandy beaches, lush gardens, and a bustling harbor. Explore the scenic Babbacombe Downs, visit the enchanting Kents Cavern, or stroll along the palm-fringed promenade. Discover the town's delightful shops and indulge in fresh seafood at waterfront restaurants.
B, DDay Three
Morning visit to Buckfast Abbey where you will have an opportunity to explore this fabulous Abbey which is home to a working community of Benedictine monks. We will then board the South Devon Railway for a journey from Buckfastleigh Station to the historic town of Totnes. Upon arrival at Totnes there will be time to wander around this unique and charming town that has an excellent range of small independent retailers and unique shops, as well as plenty of cafés and restaurants.
B, DDay Four
Today we travel to Plymouth for a scenic harbour cruise. Relax as we set sail across Plymouth Sound, edged by the stunning Devon and Cornish coasts. We pass iconic landmarks such as Plymouth Hoe, the renowned Drakes Island and enjoy spectacular views of Mount Edgcumbe and Royal William Yard. Our cruise will continue toward the River Tamar, where we approach one of Western Europe's largest naval dockyards, home to impressive warships and nuclear submarines.
B, DDay Five
We check-out this morning and commence our return journey home to North Wales.
