We then continue to the extraordinary remains of the 2nd century Hardknott Roman Fort, 1000 feet up on the fells. Following this we head to Eskdale for a ride on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, then drive onwards to "Britain's Favourite View" at Wastwater. Our final destination is the splendid 14th Century Muncaster Castle, where you can explore its internationally acclaimed gardens and World Owl Trust before we return to our hotel in Glenridding.

After some time to explore, we depart Keswick and travel south, passing Lake Thirlmere and travelling through Wordsworth's Grasmere as we journey to Ambleside, renowned for its much photographed Bridge House. From here we board a lake cruiser at for a journey on Lake Windermere to the popular resort of Bowness on Windermere where you will have some free time to enjoy the wonderful setting. We leave Bowness on Windermere mid afternoon and return to Glenridding via the spectacular Kirkstone Pass, which reaches a height of 1489ft, the highest pass open to traffic in the Lake District.
