Day One
Early departure from North Wales as we travel south to Folkestone for a Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. We then continue through France to Reims for an overnight stay.
Day Two
After breakfast, we check out and continue our journey south to Lyon. Upon arrival, there will be time to take in the charm of this UNESCO-listed city before we board our A-ROSA Stella cruise. Enjoy dinner this evening as we set sail to our next destination.
B, DDay Three
This morning, we arrive in Tournon, a picturesque riverside town known for its vineyards and medieval charm. Here, we board a charming miniature train for a scenic ride through the vineyards of Tain l’Hermitage, enjoying glorious views across the Rhône Valley. At the top of the hill, we’ll sample a selection of different wines from this renowned growing region before returning to the ship. We depart in the afternoon and continue our cruise south.
B, L, DDay Four
We arrive in Avignon this morning, a city steeped in history and home to the impressive Palais des Papes. Our guided excursion takes us through narrow alleys and past the city’s grand palaces and chapels before boarding a mini train to the palace itself. A visit inside reveals great halls, chapels, the Pope’s private chambers, and a terrace with stunning views over Avignon and the Rhône. Afterward, enjoy a short walking tour back to the ship.
B, L, DDay Five
Departing Avignon in the early morning, we arrive in Arles at breakfast time. This historic town, once ruled by Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, is one of France’s oldest and is famously associated with Vincent Van Gogh. On our guided city walk, we follow in Van Gogh’s footsteps and explore the beautifully preserved Roman amphitheatre before returning to the ship.
B, L, DDay Six
Enjoy a leisurely day in Arles, where you can explore the town at your own pace or take advantage of the ship’s fantastic facilities. We depart in the evening and continue our journey.
B, L, DDay Seven
This morning, we arrive in the medieval town of Viviers, known for its picturesque setting and well-preserved architecture. Our excursion takes us into the breathtaking Ardèche Gorge, where limestone cliffs rise up to 300 metres above the river. We also visit a lavender producer to learn about the different varieties of this fragrant plant and its uses in medicine, perfume, and decoration. We set sail again in the evening.
B, L, DDay Eight
We arrive back in Lyon around lunchtime, where you have free time to explore this vibrant city or relax onboard and enjoy the ship’s facilities.
B, L, DDay Nine
After breakfast, we disembark and board our coach for the journey north, returning to Reims for an overnight stay.
BDay Ten
Following breakfast, we check out of our hotel and make our way back to the UK via the Eurotunnel, arriving back in North Wales later in the day.
