Scottish Snowdrops & Edinburgh

Join us for a drinks-inclusive break staying at the popular Winnock Hotel in Drymen, where we discover the emerging snowdrops, a sure sign that Spring is on its way. The delicate flowers can be seen around the grounds at Kilbryde Castle, home to the Campbell family since 1659. We enjoy a guided tour from our hosts and learn about the fascinating history of the Castle and admire the carpet of Snowdrops. This relaxing break also discovers the boundless charms of the world-famous capital city of Edinburgh and we visit Inveraray, known for its spectacular Gothic style castle and the Inveraray Jail Living Museum.

 

 

WINNOCK HOTEL

The Winnock Hotel is a former 18th century inn that oozes historic character and commands a picturesque position on the village green in Drymen. The Winnock Hotel offers guests a homely and relaxing retreat away from the stresses and troubles of daily life. Once you inside the historic facade and find a warm and friendly welcome awaits you at the Winnock. All of the well-appointed bedrooms feature satellite television, telephone and tea & coffee making facilities. The Winnock also features a restaurant and bar area. Please note there is no lift at the hotel but ground floor rooms are available.

Day One

We travel north through the Scottish Borders and on to Drymen for check in to the Winnock Hotel and a welcome from your hosts.

Day Two

Today we visit Kilbryde Castle, home to the Campbell family since 1659. We will be greeted by our hosts who will provide a guided tour where we will learn all about the history of the castle, followed by some light refreshments and free time to further explore the grounds and admire the Snowdrops at leisure. This afternoon we visit Stirling, the site of Scotland's great battles of independence. Some free time here to maybe visit the castle and see the Wallace Monument, and explore the old town and its 19th century jail.

Day Three

A visit to bustling Edinburgh, a wonderfully atmospheric city dominated by its majestic castle perched atop an extinct volcano. With its incredible array of sights and attractions coupled with a tantalising mix of medieval and modern, the city is firmly placed as one of the UK’s top destinations.

Day Four

Today we visit Inveraray, one of Scotland's most beautiful historic towns that is home to a spectacular Gothic style castle and the Inveraray Jail Living Museum with its costumed characters that bring the old courtroom and former county prison back to life.

Day Five

We say farewell to Drymen and the Winnock hotel this morning and commence our return journey home to North Wales.
