We travel north through the Border Region and on to the Peebles Hydro Hotel for our stay for the next four nights
Day Two
This morning, we visit to the magnificent Thirlestane Castle, a hidden gem nestled within expansive parklands amidst the picturesque Scottish Borders. This remarkable castle, hailed as one of Scotland's oldest and most splendid inhabited castles, boasts a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Enjoy a private guided tour that delves into the castle's extensive past, allowing you to explore its elegant rooms and discover the stories that have unfolded within its walls. Additionally, you'll have the chance to wander through the lovingly tended gardens enveloping the castle, offering a tranquil and scenic escape. This afternoon, we return to Peebles where the remainder of the day will be at leisure to enjoy the facilities at the hotel or take a stroll into Peebles and browse the many speciality shops and boutiques.
Day Three
Today, we embark on a full-day excursion to the enchanting city of Edinburgh. Our first stop is the iconic Royal Yacht Britannia, offering you a unique chance to walk in the footsteps of royalty with a captivating tour of this "floating palace." Having served the Royal Family for an impressive 44 years and voyaging across more than a million nautical miles, Britannia stands as one of the world's most renowned and historic ships. Following our visit to Britannia, the remainder of the day in Edinburgh is at leisure. This splendid city, adorned with its architectural grandeur and cultural riches, awaits your exploration. Meander through its charming streets, discover its hidden treasures, and immerse yourself in the vibrant ambiance of this captivating metropolis.
B, DDay Four
We venture to the illustrious Abbotsford House, the cherished ancestral home of the legendary Sir Walter Scott. This 19th-century residence, once inhabited by the renowned novelist and poet, stands as one of Scotland's most iconic and treasured houses. Our visit includes a guided tour, providing an immersive exploration of the life and legacy of this literary giant, as well as a glimpse into the period in which he lived and created his timeless works. Following our visit to Abbotsford House, we continue to the charming town of Kelso, a picturesque county town celebrated for its historic and aesthetic treasures. Kelso boasts a cobbled town square, which proudly claims the title of being the largest town square in Scotland, surrounded by a collection of elegant Georgian and Victorian buildings. Enjoy some time at leisure to stroll through this captivating town before we return to Peebles late afternoon.
Day Five
This morning after breakfast we depart the Peebles Hydro Hotel and begin our journey home to North Wales
