Wartime Secrets, Kent Coast & London

Embark on a captivating journey through Greater London as we reveal some of World War II's most intriguing wartime secrets. Visit the historic Bletchley Park, where British codebreakers cracked the infamous Enigma code, playing a pivotal role in the Allied victory. Next, we travel to the Kent Coast to explore the iconic Dover Castle and its evocative wartime tunnels, steeped in history. The adventure culminates in central London, where we will delve into the Churchill War Rooms and step aboard the legendary HMS Belfast.

Day One

We travel south to Bexleyheath in Greater London, arriving late afternoon for check in to the Marriott Bexleyheath Hotel where we stay for the next three nights.

Day Two

We drive to Dover, renowned for its iconic white cliffs and the busiest passenger ferry port in Northern Europe. Our first stop is Dover Castle, where there will be ample time to explore this magnificent 12th-century royal fortress. Immerse yourself in history with a visit to the Secret Wartime Tunnels and underground hospital, where vivid audio-visual effects recreate the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a World War II field hospital. This afternoon we visit the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne, dedicated to Churchill's famous "Few" who fought in the skies overhead to keep the United Kingdom free from invasion in the summer and early autumn of 1940.

Day Three

We begin our day in central London with a visit to the Churchill War Rooms, hidden beneath the bustling streets of Westminster. Wander through the labyrinth of corridors and uncover the stories of those who lived, worked and slept in the Cabinet War Rooms right around the clock. Explore historic spaces like the Map Room, the Cabinet Room, Churchill's personal quarters and various offices that shaped wartime decisions. In the afternoon, we visit HMS Belfast, a World War II battleship and iconic London landmark. Built for the Royal Navy, this legendary vessel is now permanently docked on the River Thames as a museum ship, offering a fascinating glimpse into Britain's naval history.

Day Four

This morning, we check out and set off for Bletchley Park, near Milton Keynes. At this historic site, you will have the chance to see the remarkable Enigma machines and explore a variety of fascinating galleries and exhibits that immerse you in the secretive world of WWII codebreaking. After a memorable visit, we depart from Bletchley in the mid-afternoon and begin our journey back to North Wales.
