Llangollen Canal Cruise & Festive Erddig Hall

Llangollen Canal Cruise & Festive Erddig Hall

Renowned as one of Britain’s most remarkable historic homes, Erddig is a magnificent 18th-century country estate celebrated for its impeccably preserved interiors and expansive gardens. During the Christmas season, the lower ground floor and surrounding grounds are transformed into a festive wonderland, beautifully adorned with traditional decorations that capture the charm and elegance of a bygone era. Each exquisitely decorated room tells the story of Christmases past, featuring period ornaments, garlands, and twinkling lights. Erddig’s Christmas celebration is not just about the decorations; it’s an immersive journey into the traditions and festivities of the 18th and 19th centuries, offering a nostalgic and enchanting holiday experience.

Next, we head to nearby Froncysyllte, where we embark on a festive motorised cruise. With mulled wine and a mince pie in hand, we travel across the awe-inspiring Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a marvel of engineering by Thomas Telford. Soaring over 125 feet above the River Dee valley and stretching for 11 miles, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct offers breathtaking views of the picturesque landscape below.
