County Donegal is an area of Ireland largely unaffected by the passage of time and is home to some stunning scenery. Experience the rugged coastlines, fine beaches, dramatic mountains and picturesque towns as we explore the unspoilt highlights of County Donegal. Admire the panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from the incredible Slieve League Cliffs, discover the history of the area with a fascinating visit to the Glencolmcille Folk Village, take a drive along the Wild Atlantic Way and relax whist enjoying the coastal scenery from different perspective on a cruise around Donegal Bay.

 

 

GREAT NORTHERN HOTEL

The Great Northern hotel golf & leisure club enjoys a stunning location with superb ocean views and within walking distance of Bundoran. Facilities include a restaurant and traditional Irish Bar plus leisure club with indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa bath. All bedrooms feature television, telephone, Wi-Fi, iron / ironing board, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Lift to all floors.

Day One

We travel to Holyhead for our Irish Sea crossing to Dublin Port, then continue on to County Donegal and the resort of Bundoran where we commence our four night stay at the Great Northern Hotel.

Day Two

This morning we visit the highest marine cliffs in Europe, the towering Slieve League Cliffs, standing a staggering 609m high above the Atlantic Ocean. From the cliffs’ visitor centre, we board a minibus for a guided tour of the cliffs, when we will gain an insight into the local wildlife and spectacular geography of the area. In the afternoon, we make our way to Glencolmcille Folk Village where we step back in time and take a self-guided tour exploring the replica thatched roof cottages and dwellings of a rural Irish village.

Day Three

This morning we make the short journey to Belleek Pottery, where we enjoy a guided tour of Ireland’s oldest pottery producer. From here we continue to Donegal where we will have some time to look around the town centre and enjoy some lunch before embarking on a sightseeing cruise of Donegal Bay. Discover the the history, environment and wildlife of the area while takeing in the stunning natural beauty of Donegal Bay.

Day Four

Our day starts with a scenic drive, taking in parts of the Wild Atlantic Way as we travel south past Mullaghmore to the picturesque Rosses Point. Here, we enjoy a fascinating walking tour, discovering the history of the area’s coastal heritage. This afternoon, we travel to Sligo where we have time for lunch and to explore at leisure. Attractions include the Sligo County Museum & Art Gallery, Yeats Society Memorial Building and Sligo Abbey.

Day Five

We check out this morning and head back to Dublin for our return afternoon sailing to Holyhead and home to North Wales.
