The charming resort town of Sandown with its laid-back atmosphere, golden sandy beach, elegant Victorian pier, and lengthy seafront promenade is the perfect base as we explore the islands highlights, including Alum Bay, Yarmouth, Ryde and pretty Godshill.
Set in the heart of Sandown's scenic seafront, the Trouville Hotel enjoys a privileged location with sweeping panoramic views extending across the vast expanse of Sandown Bay. The hotel's comfortable bedrooms are equipped with modern amenities, including a television, radio, telephone, hairdryer, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The majority of these rooms also provide the added luxury of breathtaking sea views. Day One
We travel south via the motorway system to Portsmouth where we board a ferry and sail across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. (Crossing time is approximately 45 mins). On arrival we continue on to the Trouville Hotel in Sandown where we stay for the next five nights.
DDay Two
A day at leisure to relax and explore the resort.
B, DDay Three
A full day excursion travelling along the island's south coast via Ventnor to see the iconic multi-coloured sand cliffs, otherwise known as the Needles, at Alum Bay. Here you can take the Needles chairlift which operates from the clifftop all the way down to the beach below where you can see the Needles Rocks and Trinity Lighthouse, the Island's most famous landmark We then visit Yarmouth, a picturesque and bustling harbour town known for its historic charm and maritime character. We return to Sandown via Godshill, a pretty inland village with charming thatched-roofed cottages and delightful medieval church.
Day Four
Enjoy a morning visit to Ryde, the island's largest town with an elegant esplanade, attractive Georgian and Victorian buildings, plus its half-mile long pier. After some time to explore and have some lunch we then enjoy a return journey on board one of the Island's most treasured attractions, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Travel back in time to the golden age of train travel and enjoy a journey through the beautifully unspoiled Isle of Wight countryside whilst being hauled by one of their magnificence, immaculately restored Edwardian, and Victorian trains.
B, DDay Five
A further day at leisure in Sandown or you may wish to join us on an optional excursion to Osborne House, the cherished holiday retreat of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Step inside the house to explore the lavishly decorated interiors including the splendid state rooms where they hosted esteemed guests. Afterward, wander to Osborne Beach, the Queen's private coastal haven, where you might choose to take a leisurely seaside stroll. As you make your way back, immerse yourself in the captivating gardens that envelop the house, offering a serene oasis to unwind and relish the ever-changing seasonal colours throughout the year.
B, DDay Six
After breakfast this morning we check-out and travel back to catch our return ferry crossing to Portsmouth. From here we join the motorway systems and continue on home to North Wales.
