Newcastle City Break

Day One

We travel to Newcastle, passing Antony Gormley’s striking Angel of the North before arriving during the afternoon to check in to the Hilton. Why not begin exploring with a stroll along the Quayside, taking in the famous bridges and riverside views? It’s an inviting introduction to the city, with plenty to catch your eye along the waterfront. This evening, enjoy dinner in the hotel’s restaurant or head out to sample Newcastle’s lively dining scene, with restaurants and bars offering something for every taste.

Day Two

Enjoy a full day at leisure to see more of Newcastle. Explore the medieval castle tower for an insight into the city’s past, admire the elegant architecture of Grey Street or browse the shops in the city centre. A sightseeing tour offers another way to appreciate Newcastle’s history and landmarks, while leaving you free to explore further at your own pace.

Art lovers may prefer a visit to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, where changing exhibitions fill the former flour mill on the Gateshead side of the river. Combine your sightseeing with a leisurely lunch, seek out a quieter corner or simply enjoy the atmosphere before another evening at leisure.

Day Three

After breakfast, we check out and travel to York for time at leisure. Wander through the Shambles, with its overhanging timber-framed buildings, admire York Minster or walk a stretch of the historic city walls. You may prefer to browse the independent shops or find a welcoming café for refreshments. We depart in the early afternoon and begin our homeward journey.
